The Stargazer's Grid
Your puzzle is on page 30 of the book. Open one hint at a time: often the first one is enough.
Find the square of each numbered star on the chart. Then look up the same square on the letter grid, in the order 1, 2, 3, 4.

First hint
Each square has a column letter (A-H) and a row number (1-8), like on a chessboard.
Second hint
Star 1 sits in column C, row 6. Find C6 on the letter grid.
Solution
The numbered stars are in C6, F3, A8 and G2. On the letter grid these squares hold S, T, A, R. The answer is STAR.
